The Effects of Patient Preparation for One DaySurgeryColonoscopy Using a Telehealth Nursing System on Preparation Behavior and Bowel Cleanliness

This study employed a quasi-experimental design to compare bowel preparation behavior, bowel cleanliness, and patient satisfaction with tele-nursing services at Chum Phae Hospital. The study population consisted of patients who tested positive for fecal occult blood and underwent colonoscopy. Participants were divided into two groups: a tele-nursing group and an outpatient department (OPD) group, with 50 patients in each group.The findings showed that, in the tele-nursing group, 62.00 % of the patients were female, with a mean age of 58.54 years (SD ± 6.76). In this group, 96.00% of the patients complied with the recommendations, 54.00% achieved an excellent level of bowel cleanliness, and patient satisfaction was at the highest level.In the OPD group, 64.00% of the patients were female, with a mean age of 57.94 years (SD ± 9.77). In this group, 93.00% of the patients complied with the recommendations, 64% achieved a good level of bowel cleanliness, and patient satisfaction was also at the highest level.In conclusion, the use of tele-nursing for One day discharge colonoscopy preparation can provide bowel preparation behavior, bowel cleanliness, and patient satisfaction outcomes comparable to those of outpatient preparation.
