The Knowledge and Participation in Electric Energy Saving of Staffs at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital.

Abstract

he study aimed to find out the level of knowledge and participation of staffs at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital in electric energy saving and its association. A total number of 235 subjects were selected using random sampling technique from various disciplines of staffs at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital. Data were gathered through a questionnaire and analyzed with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, 95% confidence interval, and Fisher’ s exact test.

Of the 198 respondents who completed questionnaires at mean age of 38.0 years (SD =11.1, range 21-60), 74.6 was female. The finding revealed that, on average, 71.4% (95% CI: 64.4%, 77.8%) of the staffs at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital answered the questions correctly, whereas 32.8% (95% CI: 26.0%, 39.6%) had a high level of Knowledge in electric energy saving. The question that was answered correctly by most dealt with the high efficiency of label no.5 electrical appliances (99.5%), while the question which was incorrectly answered by most was on insulation materials for energy conservation in buildings (74.1%), and 82.0% (95% CI: 76.5, 87.5) participated in electric energy saving . There was no association between knowledge and participation in electric energy saving management.

This study contributes to specific knowledge deficits as well as the areas of participation in electric energy saving needs of staffs at MaharatNakhonRatchasima Hospital, which will enable training programmes to be developed.
