Factors Associated with Choosing mode of Delivery in Pregnant Women: A Systematic Review scoping review

Abstract

The objective of this systematic review is to gather factors associated with choosing mode of delivery in pregnant women, whether vaginal delivery or cesarean section. The eligible studies of 30 from 756 studies are included to full review and evaluation. Finding is revealed that the reasons and factors that make women decide to have cesarean section are: women in advanced age, fear of pain vaginal delivery, prioritize of baby's safety, advanced age, personal beliefs and misconceptions to pros. and cons. of C-section, health care provider’s advice and medical indication. Women choosing vaginal delivery method consider as “normal and natural”, “It is the symbol of woman’s power and ability” and having positive experiences and good attitude to vaginal delivery.
