Results of Community Checkpoint Management to Road Accident Prevention, Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Abstract

This research is participatory action research (PAR), aimed to community checkpoint management (CCM) guideline development, and studied results of them to road accident (RA) prevention also, as since, 2020, April to August, which divided to four periods of continually long weekend. The five sub-districts were selected to research conduction. The targets were separated to two groups, as first was implementors, and driver and passenger were second group. Tools were set as a both of processes and data gathering tools. Descriptive statistic was used to data analysis.

The results found “4S” and “SARIME” were a guideline of CCM to road accident prevention. On CCM preparing found that all of them had prepared to CCM as an excellence level. Including, the results of CCM operation reported number of RA as 180 times, 187 cases of injury, there was not dead. The most of vehicle accident type was motorcycle as 82.8%. Moreover, the inappropriate behavior of them was within a drunker or alcohol drinking, in the driver as 17.8%, and the passenger as 27.5%, and also 23.3% of the driver who had been without a seat belt fastening or a helmet wearing, and as well as 38.0% of the passenger. And then, 40.3% of the driver had driven speedily over more than regulation or be risk to dangerous driving, as the same time, those of them had been informed or advised with social measure and law enforce to their behavior improvement when they were inspected by the officer. However, the efficiency and effectiveness were composed from many factors, especially, the appropriate behavior of driver and passenger. So, the appropriate behavior improvement for both was essential conduction to RA prevention. Thus, the next research conduction will be creation of innovation to appropriate behavior of them.
