Health Awareness and Health Behaviors Correlated with High Blood Pressure Among Teachers and Personnel of Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Khon Kaen

Abstract

This cross-sectional analytical study aimed to investigate the health factors, health perception, and health behaviors related to high blood pressure among the personnel of Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Khon Kaen. The data collection period spanned from September 2022 to March 2023, involving a total of 65 participants.

Data were gathered through a knowledge test assessing health awareness and disease prevention behaviors, guided by the Health Belief Model. Statistical analysis included frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation to summarize the data. Furthermore, univariate and bivariate analyses were conducted using a simple logistic regression model to explore factors associated with high blood pressure prevention behaviors. To account for multifaceted relationships among variables, multivariable analysis utilized multiple logistic regression.

The study's findings indicate that high blood pressure among the personnel of Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Khon Kaen, is correlated with various factors. These include personal factors such as elevated body fat levels, a waist circumference exceeding 90 centimeters, and specific health belief patterns characterized by knowledge about diseases, a perception of disease severity, and preventive behaviors.
