Abstract

This evaluation research aimed to assess the “Wan Noi Witthaya School” training program for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Mahachai Community Health Center, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The evaluation framework integrated the CIPP Model (Context, Input, Process, and Product) with the four levels of Kirkpatrick’s Evaluation Model. The purposive sample consisted of 32 patients with type 2 diabetes who participated in the program in 2024. Research instruments included questionnaires evaluating context, inputs, and processes, as well as knowledge tests, behavioral assessment forms, and clinical record forms. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test.

The results revealed that Context: The program objectives were highly aligned with chronic disease control policies and patient needs. Input: The program demonstrated high readiness in terms of expert trainers and instructional media ( equation= 4.85, S.D. = 0.36), reflecting a very good level of reaction. Process: Activities were implemented as planned, with instructional adjustments made based on participant feedback. Product: Evaluated through Kirkpatrick’s levels, results showed that. Learning: The mean post-training knowledge score ( equation= 18.25, S.D. = 1.12) was significantly higher than the pre-training score ( equation= 12.40, S.D. = 2.05) at the .05 level. Behavior: Participants demonstrated improved self-care behaviors, particularly in dietary control and physical activity. Results: The average Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) significantly decreased from 8.02% to 7.38% (p = 0.017), leading to medication dose reductions in several cases and potentially reducing long-term healthcare costs.
