This research is a cross-sectional analysis study. The research aimed to study the prevalence of high-risk HPV 14 (HPV 14 HR) infection and the relationship ofHPV non 16/18, abnormal cervical cytology and colposcopy with biopsy report in high-risk HPV subtypes. Among 16,429Thai women who underwent cervical cancer screening in Nakhon Ratchasima province From January 2023 to April 2025. Then, the data were analyzed with descriptive statistics along with frequency and percentage. While Chi-square test, Fisher’s exacttest and Odds Ratio, 95%CI were chosen for inferential statistics, which statistical significance level was set at p<0.05.
The results illustrated that a 10.24% prevalence of HPV 14 HR infections was detected. Among cases with abnormal cytology usingliquid-based cytology (LBC) method, 18.60% were found with HPV non 16/18 infections. The top five types detected were HPV 52, multiple HPV non 16/18, HPV 58, HPV 68 and HPV 31, at rates of 3.92%, 3.34%, 2.47%, 1.60% and 1.45%, respectively. The result found that HPV 31 increased the risk of detecting cytological abnormalities by 4.20 times (95% CI = 1.77 – 9.98, p-value = 0.003), while HPV 52 increased the risk by 1.90 times (95% CI = 1.16 – 3.12, p-value = 0.037). Colposcopy with biopsy showed that HPV 52 was increased the risk of detecting pathological abnormalities by 4.79 times (95% CI = 1.34–17.15, p-value = 0.03). This research summarized that high prevalence of HPV type non 16/18, especially HPV 52 and HPV 31 were detected among Thai women in Nakhon Ratchasimaand increased the likelihood of abnormal cervical cytology. Thus, the enhanced surveillance and further study were necessary to update screening guidelines and use as data to optimize cervical cancer screening strategies in Thailand.
