Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research was the development of a clinical nursing practice guideline to motivate Schizophrenia patient medication adherence behavior of with a mentor. The research instruments included a nurse clinical guideline using motivational consulting. This research was divided into 2 phases:

1. Development of guideline: This phase was developed based on the nurse practical guidelines proposed by Fongkham (2006). The method developed was validated by 5 multidisciplinary professionals. The steps and activities were as follows. 1) Evaluating and screening, and 2) Planning and practicing, All experts agreed with the first step, evaluating and screening. However, they did not agree with the second step, planning and practicing. four out of 5 experts suggested to revise the negative thinking and motivational activity questionnaire to use more comprehensible questions.

2. Evaluation of practice feasibility: five nurses, Who had been working in this field for more than one year and agreed  to participate in this research were chosen using purposive sampling to practice using the proposed guideline. All subjects agreed that this guideline was easy to use. however, they suggested some changes as follows;  more side-effect details described on the medicine prescription comprehensible.

This result should  be used in practice and should be evaluated by more nurses.
