Abstract

This descriptive correlational research aimed to study: 1) the level of head nurses’ leading, 2) the level of registered nurses’ involvement in personnel safety management, and 3) the relationship between head nurses’ leading and registered nurses’ involvement in personnel safety management in private hospitals. The sample included 196 registered nurses who worked in the same ward as head nurses for more than 1 year. The data were collected from 3 questionnaires: 1) the personal data questionnaire, 2) the head nurses’ leading in personnel safety management questionnaire, and 3) the registered nurses’ involvement in personnel safety management questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient.
The results showed that the level of the head nurses’ leading in personnel safety management was at a high level (M = 4.13, SD = 0.53), the level of registered nurses’ involvement in personnel safety management at a high level (M = 4.08, SD = 0.50), and the relationship between head nurses’ leading and the registered nurses’ involvement in personnel safety management using Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient was a significant positive relationship at a high level (r = .74, p < .01).
Conclusion, the results of this research can be used as a guideline for personnel safety management in promoting head nurses’ leading and registered nurses’ involvement for the benefit of organizational development.
