Development of a Preparation Model for the Nurse Licensure Examination in Adult Nursing Course, Prince of Songkla University

Abstract

Objectives: To develop a preparation model for the nurse licensure examination in Adult Nursing course, and to examine the level of satisfaction among the fourth-year nursing students. This participatory action research was conducted from December 2018 to December 2020. The participants were 97 and 93 fourth-year nursing students in the academic year 2018 and 2019, respectively, 7 alumni nurses, and 7 lecturers. The development of a preparation model for the nurse licensure examination in adult nursing course consisted of four stages: 1) diagnosing the problem, 2) developing the plan, 3) implementing the plan, and 4) evaluating the outcomes. Methods: The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. Results: 1) a preparation model for nurse licensure examination in adult nursing course was developed, it composed of the learning activities; 1.1) studying independently, using a tutorial peer support group, 1.2) developing 550 questionnaires and answers with rationale prototype, and materials for adult nursing course via the LMS2@PSU platform, and 1.3) tutoring with experts, 2) the satisfaction level on a preparation model for the nurse licensure examination in adult nursing course in academic year of 2018 and 2019 was at a high level (M = 3.39, SD = .54) and an extremely level (M = 4.39, SD = .47). Conclusions: a preparation model for the nurse licensure examination in adult nursing course was developed. This model can be further applied in preparing the nurse licensure examination in Adult Nursing course among the nursing students.
