Outcomes of Problem Based Learning about Laws and Regulations related to Nursing

บทคัดย่อ

          This quasi- experimental study, one-group, posttest only, was to determine learning outcomes based on problem solving. Participants included 74 sophomore nursing students who were studying a title of laws and regulations in subscription of Ethics and laws in Nursing Profession under the title of at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Chon Buri. At baseline, students were measured their knowledge and cognitive skills, ethics and moral behaviors . At the end of program, students were measured with satisfaction, and their knowledge and cognitive skills, and ethics and moral behaviors. The data were analyzed for descriptive statistics and one sample  t-test.

          Results showed that nursing students had higher scores on knowledge and cognitive skills about laws and regulations related to nursing, when compare with standard score was significantly different at the 0.01 level ( p < 0.01). The  participants had scores at good level of the ethics and moral behaviors after participating in problem based learning  teaching on laws and regulations related to nursing (M =3.56, SD=0.24). The student’s satisfaction towards studying using  problem based learning  was at a high level.

This finding suggests that problem based learning  strategy is helpful to develop critical analysis skills and improve a moral and ethical concern among nursing students. Therefore, problem based learning  strategy might help nursing students to make decision and solve problems ethically and effectively
