Experience of eating problems in breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy

บทคัดย่อ

               This study aimed to explain and describe experience of eating problem among breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Data were collected by using individual in-depth interview with 21 breast cancer patients who were receiving chemotherapy at chemotherapy clinic, Songklanagarind Hospital. Data were collected from August 2014 to May 2015. Content analysis was used to analyze data. Trustworthiness was established following the criteria set by Lincoln and Guba.

                The experience of eating problems of breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy revealed four thematic categories. These categories include: 1) being suffering; 2) reflecting an individual experience; 3) having effects on treatment plan and recovery; and 4) having effects on psychological dimension.

                The findings of this study help healthcare professionals to gain more understanding in phenomena of eating problems of breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. In addition, the findings can be used as data base in advising and providing health education for breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy.
