Abstract

Background: In globalization era rapidly changes occur in many aspects of our world including the national policyand public health problems. As people increase their hope for better quality of health service  coincide to much moreevolvement  in medical knowledge and technology the data for formerly graduated ones become obsolete day by day. Continuing medical education (CME) is essential for all medical doctors and need to be evaluated. Objectives: Thepurpose of this research is to verify both the effectiveness and the acceptability of CME pro-gramme contributed  inPhramongkutklao Hospital since 1999. The research was done with the assumption that the CME was a usefulprogramme and with satisfaction of the doctors who participated could be continued and more evolved. Materialsand Methods: The 250 questionnaires were randomly distributed to the medical doctors according to their specialty. The 132 questionnaires were sent back to the researcher and the data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Results: All results supported the reseacher’s assumption. CME pro-gramme was accepted by most doctors especially in the part that CME had improved their  knowledge and skill (56.06%). The CME programme was needto continue. The main obstacles of the programme including suppor-ting budgets CME operating times  and manyroutine workload were presented. Summary: The CME pro-gramme in Phramongkutklao Hospital was still theeffective and acceptable programme for the medical doctors. Suggestions for the better operations and more supporting budget are useful for evolution of the programme and are also very helpful to ones who are interested in furtherstudy.
