Abstract
A class of third-year (first preclinical year) Royal Thai Army (RTA) medical students in their first clinical subject-Introduction to Clinical Medicine. An active learning with student-centered method in teaching medical ethics and Bhuddism for students professional development by Jurisprudential Model. Objective: To report a method of medical ethics teaching class and its results. Design: Descriptive analysis in the method of teaching and evaluate the students’ impression immediate after the class. Setting: A classroom lecture two hours of teaching ioethics. Participants: 35 third-year RTA medical students. Main Outcome Measures: End of hour evaluation medical cadets’ opinions and impressions records. Results: Using Jurisprudential Model to teach “Religion in our daily life” could enhance medical students’ participation and enjoyable environment. This model or method of teaching is an active learning and studentcentered. After the brain-storming process the students have to discuss and show their opinion about religion to solve their real life problems. This method can stimulate higher thinking and problem solving ability in cognitive domain as well as valuing and organization (level 3/5 and 4/5 of affective domain) of the religion’s principle into their real lives. Conclusion: It is concluded that this method of teaching can stimulate the medical students’ cognitive ability in makingjudgement and problem-solving ability communication skills. Furthermore it supports their believes and solves their real life’s problems which is a suitable way to build up morality and professional development of being good doctors.
