Perception of lived experience in combine army training of army nursing students

Abstract

Background: Combined army training is a virtual practice in a simulated situation that has patients. Nursing students must plan and help the patients in order to cause the least loss of life. By combined army training between militaries (Army, Navy, Air Force) and civilians. Objective: To study the perception of lived experience in combined army training of army nursing students. Method: Qualitative research by choosing a purposive sample that were divided into 3 groups which were group that did not pass the physical fitness test before training, healthy group and group that were sick during training. The samples were then selected by random sampling, 10 people in each group. The sample group consisted of 30 people by conducting  group discussions according to group discussion guidance. Then, data were analyzed by using content analysis method. Results: The study revealed that the perception of lived experience in combine army training was as follows 1. Physical, mental, and knowledge preparation before training to pass the training well 2. Acquiring knowledge and experience with medical services in the battle field, air medical evacuation, Helping water disaster victims, Humanitarian assistance and helping in disaster situations 3. Nursing students were proud confident in their role to apply knowledge in the future. This training is a good experience. The combine army training should be continued every year. Conclusion: This combine army training, nursing students practiced military leadership skills, making decisions, planning and solving immediate problems. As well as practice the skills of living with others and team work to be ready for nursing in every situations.
