Evaluation of the District Health System Management Competencies of Learning and Coordinating Center (LCC) Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Saraburi

Abstract
The aim of this research was to evaluate the District Health System (DHS) management competencies of the participants attending the District Health Management Learning (DHML) training program of Learning and Coordinating Center: LCC, Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Saraburi. The training focused on practical component using Context-based learning (CBL), Participatory Interactive Learning through Action (PILA). It followed the concepts of adult learning approach and emphasized on learning and sharing among the team and local experts. There were six expected core competencies namely; self-control, vision, planning, change agent, teamwork, and the use of tools for management and four shadow performances including value, relationship, communication and power which can enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the DHS.
A case of LCC Boromarajonani College of Nursing Saraburi consisted of 57 participants who were the members of six district health teams including Kaeng Khoi, Muank Lek, Muang Nakornayok, Pathum Thani, KlongLeaug and Mitmitri clinicdistricts. The participants attended the DHML program in LCC Boromarajonani College of Nursing. Quantitative data was collected using DHS Management Competency Self-assessment and qualitative data was collected using focus group discussion. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation while the qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings revealed that the average mean score of the participants’ competencies before attending the program was at a moderate level (Mean=3.64, SD.48) and at a high level (Mean=4.21, SD=.34) after attending the program. The results from content analysis revealed that the expectations of participants were gaining knowledge that can be used to for their patients and manage the district health team and continually developing the process of data discussion. It was also found that the model developed was appropriate and had impacts on the community. The mentors assisting R2R research conduction were formed.
