The participants consisted of 1,348 elderly from 13 villages. The results revealed that the majority of the elderly were socially independent group, earning less than 5,000 baht per month , and have a lower body mass index (58.6%), with most receiving health checks. Most of the elderly suffered with hypertension and problems associated with joints, bones, muscles, and chronic back pain. Regarding the age of the elderly, it was found that there is an inverse relationship with the self-care of the elderly (r=-.117, p<.001). Knowledge of self-care and attitudes towards self-care were also correlated in the same direction of self-care in the elderly (r=.268, p<.001, r=.103 p=.036 respectively).
