บทคัดย่อ

            เหตุพยาธิสภาพประสาทส่วนปลายเนื่องจากเคมีบำบัด (Chemotherapy- Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN)) เกิดได้ทั้งเฉียบพลัน หรือเรื้อรัง เป็นสาเหตุทำให้ผู้ป่วยมะเร็งที่รักษาด้วยเคมีบำบัดอาจจะต้องลดขนาดของยา นำไปสู่การหยุดการรักษาด้วยเคมีบำบัด ปัญหาของ CIPN ทำให้ผู้ป่วยทุกข์ทรมานทั้งด้านร่างกายและจิตใจ ส่งผลกระทบคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ป่วย พยาบาลมีบทบาทที่สำคัญในการดูแลผู้ป่วยที่มีความเสี่ยง CIPN จึงต้องมีความรู้เข้าใจเกี่ยวกับยาเคมีบำบัดที่ทำลายระบบประสาทส่วนปลาย อาการ การประเมินและการจัดการ  และสามารถประเมินอาการและจัดการอาการ CIPN  ได้อย่างเหมาะสม เพื่อเกิดผลลัพท์ต่อผู้ป่วย  วัตถุประสงค์ของบทความวิชาการนี้เพื่อนำเสนอหลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ที่ทันสมัยเกี่ยวกับ CIPN การประเมินและการจัดการอาการ CIPN เพื่อเป็นแนวทางสำหรับการพยาบาลที่มีคุณภาพต่อไป

Nurse’s Role in Caring of

Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy Patients

Abstract

       Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) can be acute or chronic. It can lead to reduction of the chemotherapy dose and cause failure of chemotherapy treatment. The problems associated with CIPN causes biopsychological suffering that affects patients’ quality of life. Nurses play a critical role in providing care to the patients at risk for CIPN. Thus, nurses should have essential knowledge of chemotherapy care, including physiology and pathology of the peripheral nervous system, symptoms, assessment and management. Competencies in assessing and managing the symptoms of CIPN are needed to achieve optimal outcomes. This article presents evidence-based data regarding CIPN assessment and management that can be used to guide the quality of nursing care.
