Factors associated with musculoskeletal disorder prevention behaviors in professional nurse

Abstract
The research aimed to study the prevalence rate of musculoskeletal diseases (MSD) and factors associated with MSD prevention behavior in professional nurses. The research was conducted with cross-sectional analytic study design. The samples were 363 professional nurses in Vajira Hospital. The questionnaires were personal information, musculoskeletal symptoms, and health belief including perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefit, perceived barriers, curse of action, self-efficacy and prevention behaviors with musculoskeletal disorder. Content validity was analyzed by 5 experts of professional nurses, physical therapist and behaviorist. Reliability of health belief questionnaire were 0.79, 0.87, 0.75, 0.80, 0.85, 0.85 and 0.88 respectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square and multiple linear regression.The results showed that prevalence rate of musculoskeletal diseases among profession nurse were 79.1%. The MSD prevention behavior were 14.6%. Factor of personal with MSD prevention behaviors were department of nursing and working hours per week. Factors associated with MSD prevention behaviors were perceived susceptibility, perceived barriers and self-efficacy behaviors. All four factors predicted the prevalence of prevention of MSD in professional nurses by 23.4%
