Nurse’s Role of Complementary Therapies in Palliative Care

Abstract
Palliative care is the care of patients who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses.To improve quality of life and alleviate suffering from symptoms, patients require a comprehensive approach to holistic care that includes physical-psychological, spiritual, and social aspects. The pharmacological and non-pharmacological were combined in patients care. Complementary is the one of non-pharmacological strategy that can be utilized alone or in conjunction with pharmacological. Currently, there is a wide range of interest in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) while the complementary health approach is the nurse's role in helping reduce the suffering from symptoms, promote happiness and improve the quality of life for patients receiving palliative care. The objective of this article is to describe the principles of holistic nursing and integrated health care. In addition to being able to apply to patients receiving palliative care, it may also be used for health promotion, prevention, treatment, and body and mind rehabilitation.
