The Effects of VDO Media Usage for Pre and Post – Operative Preparation on the Knowledge and Satisfaction of Patients with Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices

Abstract
This study was a quasi – experimental research aimed to comparative study the knowledge and satisfaction for post – operative preparation in cardiac implantable electronic devices between the group taught by the VDO media and the group taught normally. A sample is cardiac arrhythmia patients aged 18 years and undergoing cardiac electrocardiography implantation in Petcharat wards 4C (Medication cardiac care unit), 16B (Cardiac ward) and 17A (Cardiac care private ward), The Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University. A total of 50 subjects were selected by purposive sampling according to the inclusion criteria. The experimental group and the control group were randomly divided by sampling without replacement method.
The study found that the knowledge scores of the experimental group and the control group for post – operative preparation were 16.28±1.82 and 16.32±1.18 respectively. When controlling the influence of the pre-experimental knowledge score, it was found that the mean post-test knowledge score between the experimental group and the control group differed on average -0.31 points (95%CI: -1.15, 0.54), not statistically significant (p-value = 0.473). In addition, both groups had a high level of satisfaction with an average score of 3.93±0.11 points and 3.93±0.14 points, respectively. The average satisfaction was different andno statistical significance (p-value = 0.991). The use of VDO preparation for pre and post – operative preparation resulted in more knowledge and satisfaction at a high level.
