Factors affecting project participation “New model pharmacy for Common Illness” of pharmacies in Ayutthaya

Abstract

This research is mixed methods research. The objective is to study factors affecting project participation “New model pharmacy for Common Illness” of Pharmacies in Ayutthaya. Divided into 2 parts: 1. Using a questionnaire for opinions of 266 pharmacies licensees who didn’t participate the project. 2. In-depth interviews with 4 pharmacies licensees who already participated in the project. Results of Part 1: 233 Questionnaires were returned (87.60%). It was found that the factors affecting participation in the project were: 1. Characteristics of the licensee (female and knowing the project)  2. Characteristics of the pharmacy. (Professional characteristics of the licensee (Being a pharmacist))          3. Necessity factor (law Required, types of customer rights, vision of the pharmacy executive/owner, the trend of participating in the project among pharmacies, complaints/problems with the community where the store is located, customer needs and trends of pharmacies abroad) 4. Obstacle factors (Availability of pharmacists/pharmacy staff and expenses for implementing the project) 5. Expected benefits Factors (Increase the amount of customers, increase the reputation and good image of the pharmacy, can prevent and reduce conflicts with customers, increased acceptance from customers and save costs in the future due to increased potential and efficient use of resources). Part 2 found that knowing and understanding the project, management's policy, business competition and customer expectations, Relevant procedures and rules, see the benefits from participating in the project and being a quality drugstore are the factors affecting participation in the project. It is suggested to increase the channels and frequency of public relations to pharmacies and the public, reduce work steps and have a support system to prepare and solve problems for project participated pharmacies.
