Performance evaluation on Implementation of Sustainable and Enhanced Disease Control District in Maung Ang Thong District, Ang Thong Province

Abstract

This descriptive study aimed to evaluate the implementation of the sustainable and enhanced disease control district and to identify the problems, needs, and expectations fromthe implementation of sustainable and enhanced disease control district in Mueang Ang Thong District, Ang Thong Province. The samples consisted of 140 subjects, including 24 members of the sustainable and enhanced disease control district committees, 13 staffs responsible for disease control of sub-district health promoting hospitals, 22 staffs of local government organizations, and 81 village health volunteers. Data were analyzed using triangulation method for validity and coherence of data.

The evaluation on the implementation of the sustainable and enhanced disease control district regarding 5 aspects showed that, the content validity was at a high level (86.50%) while the other four aspects, including comprehensibility, coherence, flexibility, and feasibility were at the highest level (99.89%,100%,100%, and 98.53% respectively). The needs and expectations included establishing an implementation guideline to reduce the incidence of endemic diseases, mortality from communicable diseases, and preventable serious communicable diseases. Moreover, there were needs for people’s sustainable self-care ability regarding diseases and health threats, integration with policies or other units, support to enhance knowledge of the staffs, communication on diseases and health threats to people, and continuity of policy implementationby the Department of Disease Control, with indicators for diseases as a framework for academic support or innovations.
