Systematized epidermal nevus and Nevus unius lateralis: case reports

Epidermal nevus is a general term for hamartomatous proliferations of epithelium. Sub-types of this tumor differ according to the distribution of the lesions.
An epidermal nevus with diffuse or extensive distribution is called a systematized epidermal nevus characterized by diffuse, skin-colored or brown verrucous papules, which may coalesce to form well-demarcated papillomatous plaques appear in a linear array along the Blaschko's lines. When the lesions are distributed on one-half of the body, it is termed “nevus unius lateralis”1
We present a case of systematized epidermal nevus, a 2-year-old boy with eruption of multiple brownish plaques arrange in linear pattern on trunk and extremities since the age of 2 weeks. And a case of nevus unius lateralis, an 8-year-old girl with eruption of multiple confluent hyperpigmented papules and plaques arranged in linear pattern on left side of body, without crossing midline since the age of six months. Histopathological finding of both cases showed epidermolytic hyperkeratosis.
