Abstract

The author has studied stress in psoriatic patients at Wat Mongkut Skin Clinic, Raj Pracha Samasai Institute, Department of Disease Control from Jan – July 2007. This descriptive research was conducted by collection and analysis of general data form , psoriatic data form , stress data form (Mental health department) , stress data form (of Suan pung hospital = SPST-60) and psoriatic’s stress data form. The results of 104 number of psoriatic patients, age between 15 – 73 years old (average 46.8), age at onset between 4 – 69 years old (average 35.9). Chronic plaque type was the most common type of psoriasis in this study. Severity was mild and infrequently flare. The total stress score was in normal level. The causes of stress were from social, environment and financial problems. The sign and symptoms of the patients were involving in many systems especially from endocrine and immunological system. The main stress of psoriasis was in severe level. The author suggests to evaluate psychological status in every psoriatic patients as well as give counselling to all patients to know how to prevent it.
