A STUDY ON THE SERVICING POTENTIAL OF MUAY THAI CAMP IN THE UPPER NORTH REGION ON WELLNESS TOURISM FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study wellness tourism potential of Muay Thai camp in upper north region for foreign on service for foreign tourists using combination components of tourism and marketing. The study was conducted under quail-quant technique by studying primary information through internet, printed matters. The sample groups were Muay Thai camp managers and foreign tourists from 24 Muay Thai courses. The research instruments were questionnaires and interview form with content validity (IOC) range from 0.67-1.00. The data were collected by purposive sampling. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Results were found as followed:

  1. Attraction: Thailand is a country of origin for Muay Thai which is national martial art and culture. The boxer/fighter is the camp owner and the trainers were once boxers. Training cost is low and the camp living culture is in a family style.

  2. Activities: most camp do not have any other activities besides traditional Muay Thai arts.

  3. Access: Muay Thai camps are located all over the country and easy to reach.

  4. Amenities: most camps have small-size fitness, seats for relaxing, food and drink corner while large camp may have swimming pool and basketball court.

  5. Accommodation: most camps have no room to stay. Small and medium size camps may have rooms for foreigners ranging from moderate to luxury types.

Marketing Mix 4Ps


  1. Product: most camp have limited training courses unlike medium and large camps which can offer a variety of training courses and packages for foreigners.

  2. Price: reasonable and price worth.

  3. Place – sale: most camps advertise through Facebook and by word of mouth while medium and large camp advertise through Website, advertising company, tour company and printed matters.

 Promotion: low-season on sale promotion, free drinking water, free towel, and free cooking course.
