Values and Needs for Furthering Education of MattayomSuksa 6 Students in Institute of Physical Education

Abstract
This research aimed to study the values and needs for furthering education of Mattayom Suksa 6 students in Institute of Physical Education. 6,280 of Mattayom Suksa 6 students who were studying in the second semester of 2009 cademic year were the sample group of this research through Multi-Stage Random Sampling Techniques from 51 provinces, 51 secondary schools which were in the responsible area of 17 Campuses of Institute of Physical Education. The research instrument was self-constructed questionnaire. For data
analysis, frequency and percentage were used.
The results of this study revealed that 1) The most students had values for furthering education in higher education, especially Public Universities 81.42% and Rajabhat Universities 10.59% while their values for furthering education in Institute of Physical Education were only 4.05% which was lower than any other Universities. The reason mostly cited by those who chose the university to continue their study was done according to their parent's decisions 27.50%. 2) Less students needed to further study in Institute of Physical Education 5.72%. The reasons mostly cited by those who chose not to continue their study here were due to the curriculum which did not serve their needs, was not versatile, and was not interesting. Also, they did not know what curriculum the institute opened for student admission. In addition, they found that it was less opportunity for the graduates to seek for a job, they did not like sports, they were not good at playing sports, they did not want to study, they were not interested in sports, they considered it was not popular, and they did not know any I.P.E. information. As for those who needed to go on an academic track in Institute of Physical Education preferred Physical Education Program in the Faculty of Education to Sports Science Program in the Faculty of Sports and Health Science, as their first and second choices.
