Abstract
Abstract
Due to the situation of Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) worldwide which includes Thailand, teaching and learning process has changed from face-to-face learning allowing instructors and students to interact together to online learning. For this reason, various teaching methods such as lecturing, explaining and demonstrating, learning by doing, and giving assignment or project should be combined in the online physical education teaching management. Although it is generally known that online learning benefits the students as they can learn from anywhere at anytime, both students and instructors are facing great challenges in the online learning environment. This is because online learning atmosphere does not promote cooperative learning environment. The students cannot learn interpersonal skill and group work skill. In addition to this, cooperative learning environment enhances sportsmanship among the students. They also learn to care other people’s feeling and develop the sense of responsibility towards themselves and the society.
Further, changing from the conventional method of teaching physical education to online method may also affect goals or learning objectives set by the instructors. The learning objectives might become ineffective since some students lack of the availability of facilities and equipment. Hence, the instructors should provide suitable learning activities and apply various teaching methods so that the students are able to perform activities at their own potential. Moreover, morality, ethics, and knowledge in physical education profession should be emphasized through online physical education teaching and learning under the crisis of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic.
