DEVELOPING TRAINING COURSE TO ENHANCE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE OF TEACHER PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AND STANDARDS FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS (A FOUR-YEAR COURSE) IN FACULTY OF EDUCATION

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop the training course to enhance the professional competence of teachers in terms of knowledge and experience according to professional standards for physical education students (4-year course) of the faculty of education. The research process consisted of 3 phases: 1) Studying needs in enhancing the professional competence of teachers in terms of knowledge and experience according to professional standards for physical education students (4-year course) of the faculty of education, collected data from physical education, physical education and health education (double major), both in public universities and autonomous universities, academic year 2022, totaling 400 students. Two stages random sampling was used; 2) Constructing and developing the curriculum which assessed the efficiency by 12 educational experts; and 3) Implicating and evaluating of training course with 30 bachelors of education program students in physical education major by simple random sampling. The results of this study indicated as follows:


  1. Needs of enhancing the professional competence of teachers in terms of knowledge and experience according to professional standards. The status quo and expected state of all subjects were at high levels (3.74±0.70), (4.48±0.22), respectively.

  2. The training course to enhance the professional competence of teachers in terms of knowledge and experience according to professional standards, results met the criteria of accuracy, appropriateness, utility and possibility which were higher than the assessment criteria 3.50.

  3. The efficiency of training course to enhance the professional competence of teachers in terms of knowledge and experience according to professional standards has E1/E2 efficiency equal to 86.01/85.30, which is in accordance with the specified criteria.
