NEED ASSESSMENT ACCORDING TO THE QUALIFICATION STANDARDS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION TEACHERS OF TEACHERS, THAILAND NATIONAL SPORTS UNIVERSITY SOUTHERN CAMPUSES

Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1) to assess the needs according to the qualification standards for higher education teachers of teachers at Thailand National Sports University (TNSU) Southern Campuses, and 2) to prioritize the needs according to the qualification standards for higher education teachers of teachers at TNSU Southern Campuses. The sample consisted of 95 teachers from TNSU Southern Campuses. The research instrument was a questionnaire on the needs according to the qualification standards for higher education teachers of teachers at TNSU Southern Campuses. The statistical data analysis consisted of frequency, percentage, median, and modified priority need index (PNIModified). The results showed that the qualification standards for teachers according to the guidelines for quality development of teachers to promote the achievement of learning outcomes according to the higher education qualification standards for teachers at TNSU Southern Campuses, both expectations and actual conditions, were at a high level overall. The value of PNIModified was 0.07. When looking at the individual components, it was found that the component with the highest needs was competencies (PNIModified =0.09), followed by knowledge (PNIModified = 0.07) and values (PNIModified =0.03), respectively. The highest needs for the component of competencies were 1) effectively designing and planning learning activities for students (PNIModified 0.19), 2) effectively delivering learning activities (PNIModified =0.11), and 3) measuring and assessing student learning outcomes and providing constructive feedback (PNIModified = 0.10). For the component of knowledge, the highest need was for knowledge in the science of teaching and learning (PNIModified =0.10), while for the component of values, the highest need was for continuous self-development in the teaching profession (PNIModified 0.10).
