Abstract
This study aimedto investigate and compare the effect of Thai folk games on the health-related physical fitness of students at Boonsawang Wittaya School, Phang Nga Province. The participants were 30 Grade 6 students from Boonsawang Wittaya School in the academic year 2022. They were selected using simple random sampling and were assigned to either the experimental group (n= 15) or the control group (n=15). The research instruments included a Thai folk games activity program and a health-related physical fitness test. The test components comprised 1) Body Mass Index (BMI), 2) sit and reach, 3) 30 seconds modified push-ups, 4) 60 seconds sit-ups, and 5) 3 minutes knee ups. The statistics used included mean, standard deviation, one-way repeated measures ANOVA, and Least Significant Difference (LSD) for multiple comparisons.
The results showed that the health-related physical fitness of the Grade 6 students in the control group was not different before training, after 5 weeks of training, and after 10 weeks of training, while the experimental group showed statistically significant differences at a .05 level at each time point. The post-hoc comparison also showed that the health-related physical fitness of the experimental group differed significantly between the individual time points at a level of .05.
