THE FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO THE SUCCESS OF ROWING ATHLETES WHO HAVE WON MEDALS IN NATIONAL - LEVEL COMPETITIONS

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study the factors contributing to the success of rowing athletes who have won medals in national-level competitions and to study guidelines for developing the sports team to be successful. It was survey research. Population were 185 rowing athletes who received national medals, and 15 coaches and team managers. The research instruments were questionnaires and interviews. The content, validity (IOC) of the questions was between 0.67-1.00 and the reliability was 0.96. Data analysis used frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. and content analysis.
The results of the research found that factors resulting in rowing athletes' achievement obtaining medals of the national competition were 4 basic factors: - 1) Personnel, 2) Budget, 3) Materials and equipment, and 4) Management. Overall factors affected on the success were in high level. When considering in each item, personnel aspects was in the highest level as well as managerial funding material and equipment were in the high level respectively.
Guidelines for developing rowing sports to be successful rowing competitions should promote more rowing competition in youth. The Rowing & Canoeing Association of Thailand (RCAT) must organize lecturers to various regions to practice rowing skills widely and expand the number of athletes, organize training, rules and regulations for coaches, and teach techniques. New programs are being used trained internationally for training and competition for athletes. Athletes are selected based on their true abilities. Resources are allocated, budget allocation and others related appropriately and adequately, including organizing rowing sports equipment for training that meets international standards effective and can be used in competition or similar to equipment used in real competition.
