Comparative Study of Pre-test of Knowledge and Attitudes through Participatory Learning among the Medical Students

Objective: To compare pre-test and post-test of knowledge and attitudes through participatory learning among the medical students of Srinakarinwirot University and BMA, Medical College and Vajira Hospital.
Study design: Experimental research.
Subjects: The subject was two groups;
1) Reliability-test samples: 50 samples which were random sampling from the forth-year medical students of Srinakarinwirot University and BMA, Medical College and Vajira Hospital.
2) Studied samples: 81 samples of the fifth-year medical students of Srinakarinwirot University and BMA, Medical College and Vajira Hospital.
Methods: Questionnaires consisted of three parts; demographic form, the evaluate for knowledge in AIDS counseling training program questionnaire with 35 items and the evaluate for attitudes in AIDS counseling training program questionnaire with 15 items were filled out and collected as pre-test and post-test after reliability tested by reliability-test samples were correction and developed. The obtained data were analyzed and compared result before and after training.
Main outcome measures: Comparative f knowledge and attitude before and after training.
Results: There were significant difference (p < 0.001) between pre-test of the fifth-year medical students learning by participatory learning in AIDS counseling training program and it was found the average mean of pre-test and post-test of knowledge were 26.54 and 29.77 while pre-test and post-test of attitudes were 35.47 and 42.03.
Conclusion: Participatory learning take a positive effect on knowledge and attitudes of the fifth-year medical students in AIDS counseling training program.
