Abstract
Parents, participation on their preterm development support in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are very important.Since preterm infants are born before gestation week limit so their body structures are small and their organs, suchas nervous system, visual, sense, and central nervous system are malfunctions. These are affected on their growthand developments. In addition, when admitted in the hospital, preterm infants are separated from their parents,causing lack of bonding among members of the family, another factor related to preterm infant developments.To reduce this problem, parents are needed to cooperate with nurse to closely perform activities like touch andhug their preterm, as well as breast feeding. These activities can help the sensation passing effectively to theirpreterm infants’ brain so they are supported by ordinary natural care from their parents which resulted inimproved growth and development.
