Management of Occupational Exposures of HIV

Acquisition of HIV from an occupational exposure is a dreaded complication. Education of health care workers about occupational risks and adherence to infection-control procedures are important to prevent exposure to the pathogens. And, if exposure has occurred, postexposure monitoring and antiretroviral prophylaxis should be delivered to reduce the rate of infection.
