The Opinion of Physical Therapy Students with Practical Work in the Clinic

Objective: The purposes of this research were to improve the training program for physical therapy students in BMA medical College and Vajira hospital and this data could be feed back between students and clinical instructors.

Study design: Descriptive research..

Setting: Physical therapy unit, Department of Rehabilitation, BMA Medical College and  Vajira Hospital.

Subjects: The 49 physical therapy students who through practicing work in physical therapy clinic of rehabilitation department studied in the academic 2003 from Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, and Huachiew University.

Method: Part 1: Data were collected by questionnaires. The data were collected by researcher who received 100% of the questionnaires return. Part 2: the researcher interviewed to every student for gain more information. The statistical technique utilized in data analysis was mean of descriptive data by SPSS/PC 11.05.

Main outcome measures: The opinion of students with training program in the clinic

Results: 79.18% of students who finished the training program were satisfied. The mean scores of the opinion revealed that the students understood the objective and assessment in physical therapy (very much). They could be showing their opinion (much). The clinical instructors could be care and solve their question (much).They had the proper case in caring      patients (much). They could study many type of diseases in patients (much). They had the resource of data for finding knowledge (fair). The clinic had enough tool or equipment for treatment and modern style (much). The environment in physical therapy clinic and the rest room of students were proper (much). They had proper to apply the knowledge to skillful (much). The final, students could pass the objective in this practical work (much).

Conclusion: The physical therapy students had students had much satisfied in practicing work and they could pass the objective in this practical work very well. The students could relate their thought form theory apply to practice. Then, clinical instructor must to prepare for teaching with students. They can be solving the request of students about question and facilitate learning. Clinical instructors can encourage to confidence and enhance the good experience in clinic with students. This can make the loving in their occupation and interesting to practice in physical therapist further.
