The Effectiveness of Health Behavior Promoting Program for Overweight Golden Age Female at Public Health Center 53 Tungsonghong, Health Department

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of health behavior promoting program and to study health behavior and health status in overweight golden age female.
Study design: Quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design.
Setting: Public Health Center 53 Tungsonghong, Health Department, BMA
Subjects: A total of 100 golden age female who attended the menopausal clinic during January and February 2005 were divided into 2 groups, 50 for intervention group and 50 for control group.
Methods: The 6-week health behavior promoting program was performed in the intervention group with weekly contact for 7 times. The pre-test and post-test physical data and interview data were collected from the intervention and control groups.
Main outcome measures: The changes lf health behavior concerning eating behavior, cooking behavior, physical exercise, mental exercise and health status including weight control status and stress status.
Results: The improvement lf health behavior and health status in the intervention group concerning eating behavior, cooking behavior, physical exercise, mental exercise, weight control starts and stress starts were significantly greater than in the control group (p 0.05).
Conclusion: The health behavior promoting program for overweight golden age female had effected the greater improvement of health behavior and health status in the intervention group then in the control group.
