Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To design and develop rehabilitation medicine data warehouse in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) General Hospital. The satisfaction of the users, the executive and the professional who utilized the data warehouse was also evaluated.
Methods: This developmental research built a data warehouse taking records of the patients who got rehabilitation services from the hospital information system during October 1st, 2010 to September 30th, 2011. The processes were 1) setting up a minimal data set 2) designing a fact table 3) collecting data 4) downloading network 5) designing a front web 6) trying out the data warehouse and 7) evaluation of the data warehouse by the users, the executives, and the professionals after their use.
Results: The designed rehabilitation medicine data warehouse could analyze and report data of the Rehabilitation Medicine Division easily. The search was precise and rapid. Data could be searched from a single web page by simply dragging and dropping when the results were retrieved immediately. The search could be advanced hierarchically and multi-dimensionally. Important measures included personnel’s workload, total incomes, average incomes, and average age. Examples of searching strategy were: number of the patient’s hospital visits, number of interventional service and the hospital charges. These results could be categorized by factors e.g. month, specific clinics in the Department, or by the diseases hierarchically, etc. Most of the users, the executive, and the professional evaluated the warehouse as good in the aspects of: achieving the search requirement, well-function system, and usability. Only the security aspects gained modest evaluation.
Conclusion: The prototype of rehabilitation medicine data warehouse in BMA General Hospital was developed. It was evaluated as having good performance by users, executive, and professional.
