The Effectiveness of Dental Health Behavior Improvement Program for the Prathom 6 Primary School of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Donmueng District

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of dental health behavior improvement program for the Prathom 6 primary school of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Donmueng District.
Study design: Quasi-experimental research.
Subjects: A total of 81 students from Prathom 6 of primary school under Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in Donmueng District
Methods: The 24-week dental health behavior improvement program dividing to 9 sessions was applied to the subjects. The data was collected before, during and after the program.
Main outcome measures: Knowledge and attitude about dental health, dental health care behavior, consuming behavior and tooth-brushing skill.
Results: The dental health data showed significantly improvement of all main outcome measures (p-value < 0.05) at the 6th, 12nd and 24th week. The comparison of dental health data between the 6th, 12nd and 24th weeks showed the decreasing of improvement about all main outcome measures gradually.
Conclusion: The dental health behavior improvement program had effected the improvement of knowledge and attitude about dental health, dental health care behavior, consuming behavior and tooth-brushing skill in the Prathom 6 primary school of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Donmueng District for a period of time.
