Development of an Elderly Care Model with Partipation of community network in Ban Nonphuey Tambol Health Promoting Hospital, Sanom District, Surin Province

Abstract

The purpose of this action research was to develop on elderly health care model by participation of community network Nonphuey Health Promoting Hospital in Pongo Sub District, Sanom District, Surin Province. The 114 participants who was related with the elderly care in community were selected with random sampling technique. It was conducted on June to November 2016. Data was collected both qualitative and quantitative which applied descriptive statistics such as average percentage standard deviations included content analysis technique for data analytical. The results showed that the process of the community care for elderly were comprised in 8 steps as follows (1) Context and problem analyses (2) Sharing information to the group (3) Work shop and participation for planning(4) Implementation (5) Participation observation (6) feedback and assessment (7) Knowledge management forum and (8) Synthesis the pattern by the community experts conversation. It was found that the pattern on elderly health care in the community comprised 3 main factors which were (1) Participation for planning (2) Local actors strengthening and (3) Continuous assessment. All these showed that the participation’ score average was increasing as high level. And knowledge, attitude, practice in elderly health care score average was increasing as high level. In summary, the success factors of this study were the strength of the local network participators in all activities. It was found that engaging care and activity in the community with responsibility and voluntary manner in the community leaders and the elderly group as the main activities of their community.
