Health Literacy FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH HEALTH LITERACY IN CORONAVIRUS 2019 PREVENTION AMONG THE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER IN MUEANG BUNGKAN DISTRICT, BUNGKAN PROVINCE

Coronavirus 2019 or COVID-19 is a serious emerging disease that greatly affects the respiratory system. If people have health literacy in disease prevention, they will be able to take care of themselves and others properly. It can also help reduce the cost of medical care. This was a cross-sectional analytical study which aimed to investigate the factors associated with health literacy in Coronavirus 2019 prevention among primary school teachers in Mueang Bungkan district, Bungkan province. In total 477 participants were completed using a questionnaire during May 2021. The relationship was analyzed by multiple logistic regression. The relationship size was presented by Adjusted Odds ratio (ORadj) with a 95% confidence interval. The results showed that when controlling for the effects of other variables in the last equation were a postgraduate educational level (ORadj = 2.41, 95%CI = 1.5 – 3.61, p-value < 0.001), a high level of media access (ORadj = 5.41, 95%CI = 3.32 – 8.8, p-value < 0.001), a high level of awareness (ORadj = 1.9, 95%CI = 1.18 -3.04, p-value = 0.008) a high level of family influence (ORadj = 1.98, 95%CI = 1.25 – 3.14, p-value = 0.003) and the prevalence of health literacy in the prevention of Coronavirus 2019 in the study was 70.9% (95%CI = 66.7 – 74.8). Therefore, health literacy in term of Coronavirus 2019 preventions should be promoted in primary school teachers and as a result, they will have greater accesses to health medias and more awareness of coronavirus 2019 risks leading them to be able to follow the preventive measures properly. Moreover, they will be able to propagate the knowledge directly to their students in order to reduce the risk of infection and the spread of the disease.
