Factors Influencing Fall Prevention Behaviors in Elderly People, Tha It Sub-district, Mueang District, Uttaradit Province

The objectives of this research were to study predisposing factors, enabling factors, reinforcing factors and fall prevention behaviors of elderly people in Tha It Sub-district, Uttaradit and to study factors that can predict fall prevention behaviors in the elderly people in Tha It Sub-district, Mueang District, Uttaradit The sample consisted of the 346 elderly people, aged 60 years and over who lived in Tha It Subdistrict, Mueang District, Uttaradit for not less than 1 year and passed the assessment of daily living ability with a total of ADL scores of 12 or more by Multistage Sampling. The research tools were screening forms and questionnaires. The statistics used in the data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation. The hypothesis was tested by using multiple regression analysis statistics.
The findings revealed that 1) In terms of predisposing factors, it was found that the perception of risk opportunities and perceived benefits Affected the fall prevention behavior of the elderly people in Tha It Sub-district, Mueang District, Uttaradit with a statistical significance of the 0.05 level, 2) In terms of enabling factors, it was found that information acquisition and access to the service facility affected the fall prevention behaviors of the elderly people in Tha It Subdistrict, Mueang District, Uttaradit with statistical significance of the 0.05 level, and 3) In terms of reinforcing factors, it was found that social support had a statistically significant effect on fall prevention behaviors among the elderly people in Tha-it sub-district, Muang district, Uttaradit with a statistical significance at the 0.05 level.
Suggestions from research should be a quasi-experimental research study to develop a program by applying perception in various fields. It includes social or theoretical support into the behavior modification program to prevent elderly people falls.
