ABSTRACT
Occupational therapy work as a visual rehabilitation team Practice daily routine skills for blind and low-vision patients to be able to support themselves in their daily lives. Therefore, this article aimed to study the relationship between visual impairment effects, relative care burden and the level of ability to perform daily activities. The research design was a cross-sectional study collecting data in low vision patients to use medical services in Mettapracharak (Watraikhing) Hospital. The sample consisted of 38 persons. The purposive sampling method was used for data collection. Data were collected from June to December 2021 using the Impact of Vision Impairment (IVI), Zarit Burden Interview Short Form, and Activities of Daily Living questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Pearson Correlation.
Research findings revealed that the impact of vision impairment is not correlated positively with activities of daily living (r = -.237; p=0.17). While the impact of vision impairment correlated positively with burden among caregivers (r = .177; p=0.08), and burden among caregivers correlated positively with activities of daily living (r = .050; p= 0.10) but they are not statistically significant.
Therefore, many low vision patients should be studied to summarize the independent and dependent variables that have a linear relation to representing a good population setting the research study duration for observing the variable change. However, this study leads to improved vision rehabilitation services for support activities of daily living in low vision patients, such as 1) reading, 2) washing and cutting fruits, 3) cooking.
