Development of Communication skills Model for Community Health Volunteers Health Model of Phayao Province.

Abstract

This research used a research and development (R&D) design, for developing communication skills of public health volunteers, a health model in Phayao Province. using quantitative and qualitative researches consisting of 4 phases. Phase 1 Development of Communication skills Model for Community Health Volunteers Health Model in Phayao Province. Study related documents to draft a model for use in developing the model. Phase 2 conducting semi-structured interviews with groups of people involved in public health operations, divided into 2 times with the triangulation and improve the model. Phase 3 uses the developed model according to the two-group experimental plan, measuring twice before and after the experiment, for a period of 8 weeks. Total number of public health volunteers in the experimental and control groups 84 people by Simple Random Sampling. Data were analyzed with statistics (Paired t-test) and compared with statistics (Independent t-test). Phase 4 evaluated and improved the model by focus group of 14 Public Health executives.

The results of the study found that the Academy Health Model developed consisted of A:Active learning, C:Communication skill consists of 4 main activities: Attention Phase, Retention Phase, Reproduction Phase, Motivation Phase, A:Associate, D:Development, E:Education, M:Monitoring, Y:Phayao Development of Communication skills Model for Community Health Volunteers of Phayao Province. Results of the experiment using the model found that Knowledge and behavior in communication skills were higher than those in the control group were significantly different at the 0.001 level.

The researcher has a policy suggestion that relevant agencies can set a time period that can be flexible according to the situation and context of that area. As for the learning activity plan the learning process requires the implementation of four steps to duration of the Retention Phase and Reproduction Phase should be increased develop effective communication skills.
