Development of Households and Community Solid Waste through participation Management Guidelines in the Area ofMueang Suang Subdistrict, Mueang Suang District, Roi Et Province.

Abstract

Action Research to develop waste management guidelines with household and community participation in Mueang Suang Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang Suang District, Roi Et Province, using the concept of Kemmis & Mc Taggart, 1988, consisting of 4 steps: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. It was used to develop waste management guidelines with household and community participation in 2 communities: Ban Mueang Suang, Village No. 2, Mueang Suang Subdistrict and Ban Wanathip, Village No. 7, Nong Phue Subdistrict. The main informants and research volunteers consisted of 1) In-depth information providers, including village health volunteers from 2 villages and 2 village headmen, totaling 26 people, and 2) Household representatives, totaling 154 people. In this study, the sample size was calculated for the case of knowing the population using the formula of Krejcie and Morgan (1970). The sample group was 154 people. The study period was 16 weeks. Knowledge of waste management of households and communities, household waste management behavior and participation in household waste management, data were analyzed using the average and percentage (Percentage) before and after participating in the research. In terms of data obtained from interviews, content analysis was performed by transcribing data.

            The results of the study found that the situation of waste management in Muang Suang Subdistrict Municipality still has problems in many aspects. Some people lack awareness of the waste problem, lack appropriate waste separation behavior, population growth, and community participation that is not quite low. After participating in the research, household waste management behavior and participation in waste management increased significantly from before participating in the research (p-value < 0.001) and were significantly higher than the group that did not participate in the research (p-value < 0.001). Household waste management behavior and participation in waste management were significantly lower than the group that did not participate in the research at a statistical level of 0.05. In conclusion, the development of this household and community waste management guideline effectively reduces the amount of waste in the area of ​​responsibility and can be applied to other areas.
