Development of a Participatory Health Promotion Program for Village Health Volunteers with Chronic Non-communicable Diseases Mueang Sisaket District

Numerous patients are affected by chronic diseases, and the morbidity rate has been rising year over year. There are 14 million chronic disease patients in Thailand, including medical professionals and community health volunteers. Village health volunteers in Muang District, Sisaket Province, suffer chronic illnesses in up to 77.48% of cases.The majority of research on health promotion initiatives is focused on the elderly. Because there are no official health promotion studies in that group, the researcher conducted a study to design and evaluate the outcomes of a participatory health promotion program for village health volunteers with chronic non-communicable diseases in Muang Sisaket District. The study was designed for research and development by conducting a contextual study, developing a program, and testing it on a sample group of 30 people divided into an experimental and a comparison group. The results showed that the experimental group had statistically significantly different scores of knowledge and practice before and after the experiment. At the significance level of 0.05, the experimental group had statistically significantly more knowledge and practice than the comparison group. at a significance level of 0.05. Conclusion and recommendations Due to the duration of the program, it is a long-term event. And there must be an activity every week; it makes it a limitation for the follow-up sample group to participate in all activities according to the program. In applying the program to other groups, the frequency of activities may need to be adjusted in accordance with the needs of that target group so that they can participate in all activities of the program.
