Role of Anesthesiologists in COVID-19 Pandemic in Ratchaburi Hospital

Abstract

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak
has spread across the world and the World Health
Organization (WHO) has characterized COVID-19 as a
pandemic. Anesthesiologists may encounter and care for
patients with COVID-19 because of roles in airway
management and perioperative anesthesia. These new
situations and responsibilities provide imposition of high
risk of infection. Anesthesiologists are facing with fear,
stress, heavy workload and discomfort of wearing
personal protective equipment (PPE) for long duration.
Anesthesiologists should know accurate updates about
COVID-19 knowledge, new equipment, innovation, new
skill to improve the safety of procedure. Good communication,
preparation, planning and teamwork are very important.
