Practice Guidelines for Anesthesia and Airway Management in COVID-19 Patient or Patient Under Investigation (PUI) in Songklanagarind Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
Anesthesia providers play a vital role in
providing intubation during the 2019 novel coronavirus
disease (COVID-19) pandemic especially working in the
aerosol-generating procedures. Infection control and
prevention are essential during the perioperative period
and should be implemented to prevent the outbreak
within healthcare facilities. The safety of the patient
and the anesthesia providers who are involved in the
intubation requires special consideration. Apart from the
appropriate anesthetic technique, practice guidelines and
multidisciplinary care planning, use standard and
transmission-based precaution, and simulation training
are key considerations to protect healthcare personnel
from exposure.
