The Bangkok Medical Journal is published by Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) and has been published since February 2011. Articles are available online through the journal website and the Thai Journals Online (ThaiJO) platform, which uses Open Journal Systems (OJS). The journal publishes two issues a year, in February and September. Published articles are freely accessible. Reuse is subject to the license specified for each article.

Digital Preservation

The journal aims to preserve its published articles and publication data for long-term access and citation.

Storage and backup: Published articles are stored on the ThaiJO platform, with platform-level storage and backup managed by ThaiJO. The editorial office also retains copies of the final published files and backs them up whenever a new issue is released.

Data retained: Published article files (PDF); article metadata, including titles, authors, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, references, and DOIs; issue covers and tables of contents; and graphical abstracts, where available.

Responsibility: The editorial office of The Bangkok Medical Journal, through its Website Administrator, is responsible for retaining the journal’s copies and coordinating with the ThaiJO platform operator.

Continuity of Access

If the journal changes its platform or web address, DOI records will be updated through Crossref to link to the new article locations.

If the journal ceases publication, published articles will remain available on ThaiJO under the platform’s applicable arrangements, and the publisher, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), will continue to retain backup files.

Access to Back Issues

Issues from Vol. 1 (2011) to the present are freely available in the ThaiJO archive.

From 2011 to 2016, each issue was numbered as a separate volume (Vol. 1–12). Since 2017, each year has comprised one volume with two issues, beginning with Vol. 13 No. 1.

Persistent Identifiers (DOI)

Articles published from 2011 onward have been assigned DOIs through Crossref, using the prefix 10.31524, to support persistent identification and citation.

Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit the published article (PDF), preprint, and accepted manuscript in institutional or subject repositories, personal or institutional websites, and funder databases.

Sharing of the published PDF must comply with the license stated on the article. For articles licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, noncommercial sharing of the unchanged article is permitted with appropriate attribution and a link to the license. Modified versions may not be distributed under that license.

Preprints and accepted manuscripts may be deposited subject to the rights and license applicable to those versions. After publication, deposited copies should acknowledge the original journal publication and include the full citation and DOI or article link.

Embargo period: None. No waiting period is required after publication before depositing or sharing a permitted version.

Integrity of the Record

Published articles are normally retained in the archive. Corrections, expressions of concern, and retraction notices are linked to the affected articles, and their status is clearly indicated. Removal may be necessary in exceptional circumstances, such as legal requirements or serious privacy concerns; an explanatory notice will be retained where possible.
