Abstract

The numbers of overnutrition in preschool children has increased. Overnutrition has both physical and mental effects on older children and carries the risk of obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) for adults. Therefore, prevention and nutrition promotion in overnutrition children must begin in childhood. This article presents knowledge of overnutrition among preschool children and the pediatric nurse’s role, which includes nutritional assessment, and giving advice to promote food consumption behaviors of preschool children focused on family-centered care for the prevention of overnutrition and obesity in preschool children in order that they grow up to be healthy adults.
